Fanning Sisters

Nothing better than attending Rodarte's S/S 2012 fashion show with your sister.
Because sisters who attend the NYFW together, stay together.
And Dakota and Elle know it.

Mulberry's After-Party

Mulberry's new collection was inspired by the British summer, in which dominated the waterproof fabric jacket and a tied waist, decorated with precious stones beach dress ensembles. Thirty-four designers to create garments of different colors - from the beige, pink and blue to bright lemon and pale green.

But if you liked this collection, wait and see how the After Party was:

The photo call was so original, filled with animal shaped inflatable ballons which gave the guests the opportunity to take their pictures with a very funny and playful background.

Jade Williams / Irina Lazareanu / Romolo Garal

To entertain the people attending, loads of celebrities among them, the party counted on Hurts to season the night with their concert and Hot Chip, who were in charge for the mixtape.

So yes, definitely the kind of party I would have loved to go to... maybe next year!

Dream Big

It's clear that professional models are more and more the less demanded to cover magazines big issues.
First came the celebrities, then the artists (see Florence Welch for Vogue Japan and for Interview, or Adele for Vogue UK)...

Now seems like fashion insiders don't want to stay longer behind
the camera and have decided to take over the first page.

i-D's Dreams and Aspirations Issue* first cover is out, and Carine Roitfeld is on it, not surprisingly portrayed by Terry Richardson; with whom has recently worked on David Webb's ad campaign.

*The Dreams and Aspirations Issue is on sale from the 21st September! Keep one keen eye on i-D online

Do you want to bet on who will be on other three covers?
I wish it was Grace Coddington, Anna Dello Russo, or even Anna Wintour...
And let the rivalry begin!

Update: The other three i-D covers are out!

New shoes cure the blues

I've been very stressed lately moving to another city and all the mess that it brings, so
I decided to treat myself with some piece of clothing that I was longing for lately...
It was time to finally buy these hysterical shiny sandals (I think I've even dreamt with this pair eventually).
Still don't know what to wear the with, but after all,  it's said that if a pair of shoes make you smile everytime you see them, then they worth more than they cost.

Do you want to dance with Karen and Raquel?

Everybody who has had internet lately has watched this video already, a huge hit that's gone viral and, from my point of view, the funniest and most adorable fashion campaign in ages; not only for the risk of mixing Lanvin with Pitbull music, but also for the appearance of Alber Elbaz at the end of the ad. He's shown a great sense of humour himself, congratulations.

But what I wanted to tell you about in this post is Lanvin is looking for imitators for the NYC Vogue Fashion Night out.

French firm have thought that the best way to celebrate Fashion's Night Out in New York is looking for the best imitators of the now famous choreography in her boutique on Madison Avenue.

Of all couples who sign up, five will be chosen at random to prove their skills before a jury is rumored to be headed by Zimmerman and Elson, to clinch the victory and win a special gift.

DIY: Collar

Blouses, shirts, jackets, cardigans, coats... everything is about the collars and the neck this season!
So, what better than a easy DIY to update your clothes?

Here you have one I found on the UO blog ages ago.

A needle
Thread
(you can substitute the needle and thread for a stapler or special glue for clothes)
Scissors
Ribbon
Fabric you choose

Use one of your collared shirts to measure how much fabric you'll need.
Add about a centimeter or so of extra fabric around the edges to leave room for a hem.

Cut the fabric and use this as a pattern for the other half, with the outsides facing in.

Cut the ribbon tails and place them at the short end of the collar.
Make sure you don't place them at the long end,
otherwise you'll end up tying your lapels together!

This is the hard part: sew it all together.
(Insider short cut: a much lower-effort alternative is to use a stapler or glue)
Make sure to leave about two centimeters or so on each of the collar's short sides open.

Use the open gaps to flip it inside out, then stitch them up.

Ta-da! Now that you have the general idea, experiment with patterned fabrics, proportions and embellishments. Here you have some oter stylish ideas...
