The Hacienda’s 30th Birthday Celebrations Polo Shirts

The Hacienda, the legendary Manchester club who spread
the acid house, celebrates 30 years of its inauguration.

The Hacienda before the opening.

Founded by members of New Order and Factory Records boss Tony Wilson, The Haçienda was more than a nightclub. It was a concert hall, a café, a meeting of the tribes of northern post-punk England, a refuge and a catalyst for creativity. The club opened six days a week and did not understand music labels contributing to the eclectic musical scene. While in other parts of England people went to raves in fields, in Manchester they could dance under the roof of The Haçienda.

The disappearance
of the physical space has not prevented the celebration of 30 anniversary of the club. 21st of May marks three decades of its opening and that day a party
is organized in the parking lot of the apartments that occupy the site. Also, the 2nd and 4th of June in Manchester, Laurent Garnier -a former Hacienda resident dj - will be in Sankey's club. All these events are accompanied by a photo exhibition and launch a collection of limited edition clothing.

As part of The Hacienda's Birthday, three special shirts designed by ellesse heritage are being launched.
As well as the Hacienda’s cedilla logo, individually designed tags and a canvas badge personally signed
by Peter Hook, the designs also feature branded brushed metal buttons made out of the very material that made up the Haçienda’s metallic floor. The "Label" "Legacy" and "Location" shirts, limited to 51 of each design, also come packaged with a surprise addition of a limited edition 12 inch vinyl which features specially commissioned Haçienda remixes.

There are some easier to get your hands on options if you want to endure The Hacienda's legacy with a piece of clothing. Here you can get a replica of the iconic "The Sixth Day" T-Shirt by Identity, first sold in Manchester's Afflecks Palace in 1988 and which became identifying symbol of the movement.

Get The Look: Goo

Sonic Youth's sixth album, Goo, has one of the most iconic covers of music history.
This early 90's wonder can be found in most record stores and, if you are a music lover,
I bet you have had it in your hands thinking if you should buy it in that moment or not.

But in those moments when you were pondering if you should finally add it to your brand-new record collection or leave it for another time you come across it, you probably didn't realise you were looking
at an artwork inspired by a photograph of the witnesses of a serial murder case.

Sonic Youth have always liked to rely their covers to artists: Richard Prince, Gerhard Richter,
Richard Kern, Mike Kelley... This time it was Raymond Pettibon's work, known for his
comic-like drawings with disturbing, ironic or ambiguous text. He based this work on a
paparazzi portrait of Maureen Hindley and David Smith, witnesses in the trial of Moors Murders.

If you feel like today it is all whirlwind, heat and flash and you want to dress appropiately for it,
and a dark bob wig to become a real kool thing.

What Does Iggy Pop Smell Like?

Iggy Pop has been revealed as the new face of Paco Rabanne's new fragrance "Black XS L’Excès".

According the to Daily Mail:  "Paco Rabanne's Black XS L’Excès, which will have both a men's and a women's version, will debut in France in January next year, accompanied by a billboard and television campaign with Pop as the star. The name of the fragrance - French for excess - suits the American-born singer, who was once one of the music industry's most anarchic figures. Renowned music video director Jonas Akerlund - he of the recent Girl Panic! Duran Duran music video starring 90s supermodels - will be directing the TV commercials, which will screen in the new year."

Though this punk legend had already discontented his fans by  letting "Lust for Life" be used for many years in ads for Royal Caribbean, or by starring in an insurance campaign on british TV (said to be almost as unsettling as Johny Rotten's Butter commercial); his collaborations with fashion world have usually been met with acclaim by critics.

Even in this blog we dedicated a post to his Love Magazine cover, but I'm afraid this time I'm not a fan of his choice. The image for this ad is weird, he looks like he's having "No Fun" holding that huge bottle of fragrance.

Pull shapes (I): DIAMOND

I don't know if not spanish readers have heard something about this, but here they're trying to define women's body shapes in order to standardize sizes. Not only i found awful the idea of cataloging women as objects shapes, my indignation increased when i saw the options for men were more like: athletic, slim... so, no geometric shapes? Not fair.

Women Official Shapes

I completely refuse the idea of cataloging people by their bodies, and i sincerely find it a stupid measure, given that every girl knows herself and knows what makes them look best.

So here I go, I propose a new way of deciding your shape, your personality shape. Best of all is that they're not excluding categories, you can be any of them depending on your mood or how are you feeling about the day you have ahead... You probably are all into one!

DIAMOND
You like to shine, you like to hear how amazing you look, how good looks that new skirt you bought. You light up every place you're in, because you feel powerful, keep laughing, dance, have fun knowing that all the girls obsessed with their body shapes will never enjoy as much as you're enjoying!

In this style: Edie Sedgwick, Kate Moss, Adriana Lima, Diane Kruger, Christina Hendricks, Katy Perry, Beyoncé, Daria Werbowy, Heidi Klum, Alexa Chung, Audrey Hepburn ...

Songs:

I bet that you look good on the dancefloor

Long before rock'n'roll

Femme fatale

Queen of the World

Dancing Queen

Moi Je Joue

Girls Just wanna Have Fun

No You Girls...

They'll be wearing: Sequins, chiffon, colour block, velvet, lace, platforms, mini dresses, red lipstick...

So, be diamond my friend... and dance!
