Cat Walk

Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson for Vogue US

See Scarlett Johansson taking a tiger for a walk. Don't worry, it's not her new pet.
It's one of the shoots by Mario Testino is the photographer in charge for this shoots
for the latest Vogue US issue, clearly inspired by classic comedy Bringing Up Baby.

Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn in Bringing Up Baby

But who looks fiercer walking the big cat, the blonde sensation or Katharine Hepburn herself?

Enough About Lana

The all-american popstar is apparently not happy with having got a modelling contract, singing at fashion events and getting covers - not only in music related publications but also this month's Vogue UK one- .
Now it seems like her elaborated style is also inspiration for editorials, just like this one starring French model Constance Jablonski photographed by Greg Kadel for Vogue Italia Beauty.

"Everybody should have one talent, what's yours? "

I found this picture in the January issue of Vogue Australia,
in which Valentina Zelyaeva and Ben Hill take a romantic summer getaway.

This editorial is called The Wanderers, and it reminded me of this scene from The Talented Mr Ripley,
an American psychological thriller written for the screen and directed by Anthony Minghella
starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.

The motorbike, the blonde in a trench, the atmosphere... isn't the inspiration clear here?

Which is your favourite one?
Playful and colourful Gisele Bundchen for Vogue UK December by Mario Testino?
Or Charlotte Free's pink hair and indie vibe for Wonderland?

Designers Carve Halloween Jack-O-Lanterns

Nicholas Kirkwood

"At Vogue, they found it interesting to give designers and tastemakers carte blanche to trick out a jack-o’-lantern in their signature style. What turned up ranged from the simply clever (Warby Parker’s mummies) to the labor-intensive (Moss Lipow’s squash-on-squash sunglasses)."

Fetish Fall: The Night Porter

Looks like Liliana Cavani's Il Portiere Di Notte (The Night Porter, 1974) has been used as inspiration by many people this season. Costumes in this controversial film were made by Piero Tosi, who had already worked with Luchino Visconti creating the amazing looks in La Caduta Degli Dei (The Damned, 1969).

Charlotte Rampling's ensemble of army boots and pants, suspenders, peaked cap, and black opera gloves has been imitated countless times in pop culture (Madonna's Justify My Love or Lady Gaga's LoveGame videos among them). But this "Nazi Chic" style has also been an influence in fashion for years, starting in the mid-seventies with the emergence of the punk movement in London. It kept growing and passed from being a marginal trend to become incorporated by big fashion houses to their collections, such as in John Galliano's Christian Dior A/W 2000-01 Haute Couture.

Christian Dior A/W 2000-01 Haute Couture

This season it seems to be more present than others, not only in collections such as Marc Jacob's Louis Vuitton A/W 2011-12, but in magazine covers and editorials as well.

Who cares about the September issues?

When we already have the Vogue Japan cover for October

In case you didn't recognise her ( it took me a while actually), Florence Welch is the one in charge to embody the very suitable title "Music Meets Style" , portrayed by omnipresent Karl Lagerfeld.

Hair Matters

I'm not really a fan of beauty magazines and editorials
they use to have good pictures but
they never get to attire my attention enough.

However, this morning i found a nice exception to this on
the June issue of Vogue Japan
