Multifaceted Woman Vogue Italia Cover Is Brilliant

This is clearly the most outstanding cover I've seen among all the September issues this year.

Not even Vogue US bid on Lady Gaga's quirky monstrosity deserves to be compared
with this genius job by Steven Meisel. All dressed in Prada, Carolyn Murphy looks
like a mannequin herself surrounded by the heads of many others alike.

Dazed Magazine: Baby's on Fire

I am lately amazed by the covers Dazed & Confused Magazine are producing.
This will be the cover for the Feed Your Head issue, released on July 12.
Shot by Kacper Kasprzyk and styled by Robbie Spencer, the image is... how to say it?
Oh yes, burning hot.

Flame-Haired Tilda Swinton Cover

Candy Magazine #4 Issue: The Extravagance Issue presents us Tilda Swinton as
we have never seen her. The androgynous and minimalistic actress -considered a cult fashion
for her personal style- appears in the cover as a flamboyant provocative flame-haired woman.

This issue is suitably released today, on the International Day Against Homphobia, and it
has bold content such as photoshoots featuring male pregnancy or drag superstars. If you want
to look at what else you will find inside this always groundbreaking magazine, click here.

Is East London Dead?

Dazed & Confused May Issue tries to find where the creative area of the capital goes to.

"With the arrival of the Olympics in east London, the world's attention has turned to the creative
heartland of the capital. What does this mean for the artists, designers, musicians and publishers
making their mark here, who face rising rents and an endlessly increasing variety of artisanal coffee?
Dazed & Confused surveys those living and working in its own back yard, and asks 'Is East London Dead?' Inside, photographer Jamie Hawkesworth documents over 20 emerging talents from the worlds of
music, fashion, art, photography and literature, while we talk to artists, writers and venue owners
for their insights into how the area has evolved, and the challenges it faces"

About who's involved in this masterly cover: artist Theo-Mass Lexileictous is photographed
by Walter Pfeiffer. Robbie Spencer, Dazed senior fashion editor, is in charge for the styling.

Nurse Dello Russo

The always in the limelight Vogue Japan editor covers the March issue of Interview Germany.
Photographed by Giampaolo Sgura wears Lanvin, Paco Rabanne...and Louis Vuitton S/S 2008.

Anna Dello Russo for Interview     ///     Country Nurse by Richard Prince

That collection was composed by 1950's style clear perspex nurse uniforms worn over bright coloured mini dresses worn with white nurses hats with a single red letter on the front, spelling out "Louis Vuitton". Inspiration for it probably became from Richard Prince's Nurse Paintings.

Julianne Moore for Haper's Bazaar     ///     Crazy Nurse #3 by Richard Prince

This" Louis Vuitton - Richard Prince" connection has also been used by Peter Lindbergh,
who portrayed Julianne Moore as art masterpieces in a great editorial for Harper's Bazaar.

LOVE Celebrating The End of Elegance

Here it is, the Spring/Summer LOVE's issue. The first edition of the magazine with just one cover,
a statement one featuring Linda Evangelista portrayed by Mert & Marcus.
The unusual shot is kind of inspired by the style of Jamie Reid, the artist behind the artwork for
Sex Pistols' "Never Mind the Bollocks" album and many other singles such as "Anarchy In the UK",

How to make the new Candy Magazine cover

Terry Richardson & Chloe Sevigny

So what happens if you make a mix of the two persons in this picture?
Ok, let me explain it a bit clearer. Try to solve this equation.

You still don't know the result?
Well, what you get is the new, funny and original Candy magazine cover.

Rainbow Covers

Which is your favourite one?
Playful and colourful Gisele Bundchen for Vogue UK December by Mario Testino?
Or Charlotte Free's pink hair and indie vibe for Wonderland?

Fetish Fall: The Night Porter

Looks like Liliana Cavani's Il Portiere Di Notte (The Night Porter, 1974) has been used as inspiration by many people this season. Costumes in this controversial film were made by Piero Tosi, who had already worked with Luchino Visconti creating the amazing looks in La Caduta Degli Dei (The Damned, 1969).

Charlotte Rampling's ensemble of army boots and pants, suspenders, peaked cap, and black opera gloves has been imitated countless times in pop culture (Madonna's Justify My Love or Lady Gaga's LoveGame videos among them). But this "Nazi Chic" style has also been an influence in fashion for years, starting in the mid-seventies with the emergence of the punk movement in London. It kept growing and passed from being a marginal trend to become incorporated by big fashion houses to their collections, such as in John Galliano's Christian Dior A/W 2000-01 Haute Couture.

Christian Dior A/W 2000-01 Haute Couture

This season it seems to be more present than others, not only in collections such as Marc Jacob's Louis Vuitton A/W 2011-12, but in magazine covers and editorials as well.

Ponystep F/W 2011

The second issue of the biannual fashion magazine Ponystep is out, this time with a lineup
way more eclectic than the precedent one, starring three of pop culture’s most original icons:
Donatella Versace, mistress of the dark Elvira and Dame Edna.

Dame Edna by Alice Hawkins

Donatella Versace by Miles Aldridge

Elvira by Matt Irwin
Behind this magazine, which was launched in Paris fashion week at the start of the year in the French concept store Colette, there is the photographer Richard Mortimer, who also has several stable partners as iD magazine and Alice Hawkins, among others. So don't forget to check the inside too, because it comes with editorials that delight...

Dream Big

It's clear that professional models are more and more the less demanded to cover magazines big issues.
First came the celebrities, then the artists (see Florence Welch for Vogue Japan and for Interview, or Adele for Vogue UK)...

Now seems like fashion insiders don't want to stay longer behind
the camera and have decided to take over the first page.

i-D's Dreams and Aspirations Issue* first cover is out, and Carine Roitfeld is on it, not surprisingly portrayed by Terry Richardson; with whom has recently worked on David Webb's ad campaign.

*The Dreams and Aspirations Issue is on sale from the 21st September! Keep one keen eye on i-D online

Do you want to bet on who will be on other three covers?
I wish it was Grace Coddington, Anna Dello Russo, or even Anna Wintour...
And let the rivalry begin!

Update: The other three i-D covers are out!

Who cares about the September issues?

When we already have the Vogue Japan cover for October

In case you didn't recognise her ( it took me a while actually), Florence Welch is the one in charge to embody the very suitable title "Music Meets Style" , portrayed by omnipresent Karl Lagerfeld.
